How Knox K-Pop (a program of Knox Pop Con, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit) handles personal information collected through the Knox K-Pop mobile app and the KKG member portal. Short version: name, email, attendance records, and a push token — nothing else, never sold, never used for ads.
If you only read one section of a privacy policy, read this one. These are the only four things we collect.
Parent's name, plus your child's name as it appears on the class roster.
For sign-in, password reset, and the occasional studio notice.
Date, time, and class title each time your child checks in. Same as a paper roll-call.
The opaque ID your phone gives us so we can send class reminders. Opt-in, revocable in OS settings.
What we don't collect: location, GPS, contacts, photos, microphone, camera, files, browsing history, advertising IDs (IDFA / GAID), or biometric data. We don't sell your information, share it with data brokers, or use it for advertising.
Knox K-Pop is a program of Knox Pop Con, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation organized in Tennessee, USA, doing business as Knox K-Pop ("Knox K-Pop", "we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy describes how we handle personal information collected through the Knox K-Pop mobile application for iOS and Android (the "App") and the related KKG member portal at knoxkpop.com/kkg-portal/ (together, the "Service"). It does not cover other Knox K-Pop activities (in-person classes, public website forms, ticket sales) which are governed by the policies posted at the relevant pages.
When you create an account, you provide an email address and your full name. As the parent or guardian, you also enter your child's first name (and optionally last initial) so we can identify them on the class and rehearsal rosters. We use this information only to operate your account, send you sign-in and recovery emails, and contact you about your child's classes.
When your child checks in at a class or rehearsal, we record the date, time, and class title. This is the same roll-call any dance studio keeps. Attendance is used so instructors can track participation for KKG performance-team commitments, so parents can see their child's history, and so the studio can manage rosters and contact families about scheduling.
If you grant the App permission to send push notifications, your device generates an opaque push token (an identifier issued by Apple or Google). The App forwards that token to our notification provider, OneSignal Inc., or directly to Apple Push Notification service (APNs) or Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM), so we can send you class reminders and schedule changes. The token does not identify you personally to anyone outside this delivery chain. You can revoke push permission at any time in your device's system settings; we delete the token from our records on your next sign-in or within 90 days of the device unsubscribing, whichever comes first.
We do not collect precise or coarse location, GPS, contacts, photos, camera, microphone, files, browsing history, IP-based location targeting, advertising identifiers (IDFA, GAID), or any health or biometric data. We do not run third-party analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or cross-app trackers inside the App.
Many Knox Kpop students are under the age of 13. The App is designed for parents and guardians to register the account on their child's behalf:
This complies with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA, 15 U.S.C. §§ 6501–6506). Parents may email asami@knoxkpop.com at any time to review, correct, or delete their child's information; we respond within 30 days.
We use the categories above to:
We do not use your information for advertising, behavioural profiling, or to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.
We share information only with the third-party service providers required to operate the Service. They process your information on our behalf under written agreements and are not allowed to use it for their own purposes:
We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers or data brokers, or use it for behavioural advertising or tracking across other apps and websites.
We will disclose information only if we are required to do so by law (subpoena, court order, or other valid legal process) or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the safety of any person.
Regardless of where you live, you may:
To exercise any of these rights, email asami@knoxkpop.com from the email address on the account, with the subject line "Privacy request". We respond within 30 days. There is no charge for these requests.
California residents: we do not sell or "share" personal information as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act / California Privacy Rights Act, and we do not process sensitive personal information for the purpose of inferring characteristics about you.
You can permanently delete your account two ways:
Either method permanently removes your name, email, attendance records, and push token within 30 days. Data residing in encrypted backups is overwritten within an additional 60 days.
Push notifications are opt-in — the first time the App needs to send one, your device asks for permission. You can change that decision at any time:
We send notifications only for class reminders, schedule changes, and KKG team announcements. We do not send marketing or promotional notifications.
No system is perfectly secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, email asami@knoxkpop.com immediately so we can lock it.
Knox Kpop is based in the United States. If you use the Service from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those of your country. By using the Service, you consent to that transfer.
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Effective" date at the top of this page and post the new version at this URL. Material changes will also trigger an in-App notice the next time you open the App. The current version is always available at knoxkpop.com/privacy/.
